Scholarships Awarded  

Each year Culinary Institute LeNôtre awards in scholarships and grants to eligible students. Scholarships are a great way to help pay for school. For information about other scholarships, call our financial aid department or attend one of our Financial Aid Workshops


PrimeWay Student Scholarship  


Qualifying Criteria - 2011

  • Must be a PrimeWay MyFunds member, Harris or Fort Bend County student.
  • GPA must be 3.0 or higher (based on 4.0 scale).
  • Must be a returning student or freshman enrolling full time at a vocational/trade or
    accredited school or university in the Fall 2011.

A $2000 Scholarship Awarded to Elizabeth Balderas  

 

 

 

La Chaine des Rotisseurs, Bailliage des Lacs et des Bois, has awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship to Elizabeth Balderas.

Elizabeth received the honor directly from the hands of Bailli Cheryl Kenny during a Wine Dinner at Carlton Woods Creekside Saturday, November 15, 2008. More

 


Scholarships & Grants  

Thanks to the Culinary Endowment and Scholarship, Inc. and its generous sponsors, Culinary Institute LeNôtre is able to offer the Gaston LeNôtre Scholarship to many deserving students and  the Jason Allen Crump Scholarship, which is part of the Culinary Endowment & Scholarship Fund and awards scholarships to deserving students.

Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships as soon as possible because funds are limited.

Scholarship Guidelines:
  1. Fill out an application form.  
  2. Typed two-page essay (double spaced) answering the following questions:
    • Why are you seeking financial assistance?
    • Why should you receive a tuition scholarship?
    • What are your professional plans?
  3. Two letters of professional reference on business letterhead attached to reference questionnaire.
  4. A copy of driver's license and social security card.
  5. Copy of two years of tax returns (family tax returns if applicant is under the age of 21).
  6. All educational transcripts or proof of GED.
  7. Interview with an officer of the Culinary Endowment & Scholarship, Inc.
  8. Six months experience in the food service industry.
  9. Annual income must be below $65,000, although consideration will be given to applicants with dependents and/or special circumstances as deemed by the committee.
  10. Other requirements may apply. 

High School Culinary Competition Scholarship - $2000


This Culinary Competition Scholarship must be submitted in candidate's junior or senior year before their High School graduation date. Write a 200 word essay describing your goals & motivation for learning culinary arts and attending Culinary Institute LeNôtre. Submit your favorite recipe chosen from one of these 3 categories of your choice:
an egg dish, a salad or a dessert. The recipe should include (a) a list and quantity of ingredients, (b) preparation instructions, (c) estimated preparation time, (d) equipment and tools needed, (e) serving quantity.


 

High School Merit Award - $500

Applicants must be a current high school student, have at least a 3.40 GPA, and submit a one-page typed personal essay describing how this was accomplished and what they plan to accomplish in the future.


 

Non-traditional Student - $500

Applicants must be over 25 years old, never attended college, and submit a one-page typed autobiography to include why you want to attend our school and what you hope to accomplish.


 

Returning College Student - $500

Applicants must have attended at least one year of college and submit a one-page typed essay explaining why you want to return to school, your goals and what you plan to accomplish while attending our school.


 

Single Parent Scholarship - $1000

Applicants must be able to show proof of child support or a statement saying you do not receive child support, complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Financial Student Aid), and a one-page typed personal essay on your personal situation, including why you want to attend our school and what you hope to accomplish.


 

Veterans - $750

Applicants must have served in the military and be able to provide at least one military reference (personal or professional). You must submit a one-page typed biography about your time spent in active duty in the military.


 

Out of State, Out of Town (60 miles) - $750

Applicants must relocate to the state of Texas and or travel over 60 miles one way in order to attend our school, submit a one-page typed essay explaining your decision to leave your home state and attend our school, and what you hope you can accomplish while attending our school.


 

International Student - $1000

Applicants must relocate to the state of Texas from out of the United States in order to attend our school and submit a one-page typed essay explaining your decision to leave your home and attend our school, and what you hope you can accomplish while attending our school.


 

Alumni Ambassador Circle Referral Scholarship - $400

This is an in-house scholarship available to student prospects that have been referred to Culinary Institute LeNôtre by an Alumni member of Culinary Institute LeNôtre and who belongs to the Alumni Ambassador Circle.

Scholarship General Information  


Culinary Institute LeNôtre provides several scholarships throughout the year. Scholarships range in amount from $250 to $1500 or higher and apply to tuition at the end of the program. To qualify for scholarships, students must demonstrate the ability to benefit from the training and be able to finance the remainder of their educational expense. To apply, first make an appointment to visit with Culinary Institute LeNôtre Student Finance Office. With your help, the Coordinator will determine if you meet the program entrance requirements. You will then be asked to apply for a Culinary Institute LeNôtre Scholarship. Below are examples of scholarships currently available:

High School Merit - These are available for individuals who maintained good grades in either high school or college. A minimum high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.4 is required for consideration. Transcripts are required. You are also asked to submit a one-page essay explaining why you should be selected and how this scholarship will help you with your career objective.

Non-traditional Student - Applicants must be over 25 years old, never attended college, and submit a one-page typed essay autobiography including why you want to attend our school and what your accomplishments include.

Returning College Student Scholarship - This is a scholarship for individuals possessing at least one year of college. A one-page typed essay is required explaining your goals and what you hope to accomplish while attending Culinary Institute LeNôtre.

Single Parent Scholarship - Applicants must be able to show proof of child support or a statement saying that you do not receive child support. Type a one-page personal essay including why you want to attend our school and what you hope to accomplish.

Out of Town, Out of State and Foreign Student Scholarship - These are discretionary in nature and reserved for individuals that relocate to Texas in order to attend Culinary Institute LeNôtre. Submit a one-page typed essay including your decision to leave your home state and what you plan to accomplish by attending Culinary Institute LeNôtre.

Veterans Scholarship - Applicants must have served in the military and be able to provide at least one military reference (personal or professional). Submit a one-page typed biography about your time served in the military.

Alumni Ambassador Circle Referral Scholarship - This is an in-house scholarship available to student prospects that have been referred to Culinary Institute LeNôtre by an Alumni member of Culinary Institute LeNôtre and who belongs to the Alumni Ambassador Circle.

Gaston LeNôtre Scholarship - Must complete an application packet. Applicant must have at least six months of culinary experience and must be able to provide tw letters of professional references and a two-page typed essay which answers the following questions:

  • Why are you seeking financial assistance?
  • Why should you receive a tuition scholarship?
  • What are your professional plans?

 Students are encouraged to seek scholarships from private donors.

Financial aid consists of grants as well as student loans that our students qualify for to assist with funding your education. Financial aid is not credit based but is based on your income from the previous year. The year that Department of Education is requesting is 2011, so your income for 2011 will be the determining factor for how much financial aid you will qualify for.

Culinary Institute LeNôtre have teamed up with various lenders to provide your student loans and in the end, it is your decision which lender you prefer. Your own personal bank is also an option even if it is not on our lenders list.

Just inform the financial aid department the name of the bank, and we will do the rest.

Student Loan Programs

Sallie Mae Career Training Loan
This is an unsecured long-term loan (up to 15 years) that can be used to finance tuition, books, fees, certification test, etc., bearing an interest rate of 5.54% to 18% based on the applicant's credit history and income level. Co-borrower may be required and is strongly encouraged, leading to lower interest rate. Principal payments are deferred while in school. This loan will also bear a loan processing fee.

Shell FCU  Private Loan (Membership is required)
This is an unsecured long-term loan (up to 15 years) that can be used to finance tuition, books, fees, etc. Interest is based on the applicant's credit history. This loan will also bear a loan processing fee.

Culinary Institute LeNôtre In House Plan
Available to students who are unable to provide acceptable credit history but are able to pay a montly pre-approved tuition payment plus other related fees and expenses. This In House Plan option must be paid in full before graduation.

Veterans Assistance Services

APPLICATION FOR VETERANS EDUCATIONAL ENTITLEMENT - Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill)
This benefit is for those veterans who served in active duty after June 30, 1985 (Category I), those who had remaining entitlement under the Vietnam Era GI Bill (Category II), and those who switched from VEAP before being involuntarily separated after February 2, 1991 (Category III).

Active duty persons who contributed to the Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) should have the member 4 copy of the DD Form 214 for submission along with the Application for Educational Entitlement (VA Form 22-1990). Submit the 22-1990, DD-214 and your VA Form 22-1999 (obtained from the school Admissions Office) to the Veterans Administration Department. Fax # 918-781-7863.

APPLICATION FOR CHANGE OF VETERANS EDUCATIONAL ENTITLEMENT

APPLICATION FOR Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits - Chapter 31 EDUCATIONAL ENTITLEMENT

Applicants for the Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits (Chapter 31) must have a VA Disability Rating of 20 percent or higher and should complete the Disabled Veterans Application for Vocational Rehabilitation, obtained from your VA representative. VEAP/Veterans Educational Assistance Program - Chapter 32

This benefit is for those veterans who served between the Vietnam GI Bill Era and the Montgomery GI Bill era. Generally, between January 1977 and June 1985. Contact

Survivor's and Dependent's Educational Assistance - Chapter 35

This benefit is for surviving spouses and children of veterans who died of a service-connected death, surviving spouses and children of veterans who died as a result of a service-connected disability, or for surviving spouses and children of a veteran with a permanent service-connected disability.

APPLICATION FOR American GI Forum BENEFITS

This benefit is for those veterans who served in active duty during a campaign era. This is a supplemental veteran benefit. Application is through American GI Forum, 301 W 13th Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102 (817) 335-5111 Ext 3105.

Change to Survivor's and Dependent's Educational Assistance - Chapter 35

If you are already receiving benefits under Chapter 35 and are changing schools or majors, submit the Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Survivors' and Dependents' Education Assistance http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/22-5495.pdf to the Office of the Registrar VA representative.

Reserve Guard Montgomery GI Bill - Chapter 1606

Applicants for the Reserve Guard Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 1606) should submit a DD Form 2384, Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE), Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program, with the Application for Educational Entitlement (VA Form 22-1990). http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/22-1990.pdf

Financial Aid Department Services

Culinary Institute LeNôtre Training Center Financial Aid Department offers numerous student services. Several are listed here:

Loan / grant documentation. The FA department will assist the student in completing forms, obtain credit reports and obtaining financial information.

Co-signers. Various loans may require a guarantor or co-signer. The FA department will assist the student by contacting the co-signer on behalf of the student to explain the educational / job assistance program and arrange signatures on required documents. The department will ship any documents.

Sponsorships. The FA department will work with the sponsoring organization or person to provide any information or complete forms.

Banks / third party lenders. The FA department will work with banks and lenders to provide all necessary information on behalf of the school and the student.
